Happy New Year!

Well, heavens to betsy......I just realized it's been over a month since I posted to my blog. Between my Mom's illness and the Christmas holidays, I've been paddling hard trying to keep my head above the water. Many of you have asked about my Mom, and I appreciate your prayers and well wishes. She's hanging in there, hoping to start chemo soon. I just returned from visiting her today.

The Christmas season was a good one in the Junkyard - a few sales, some good creative juices flowing....look for more Junkyard Gypsy creations to be born right after the new year.

And here New Year's Eve is upon us.....do you make resolutions? I'm still working on mine. Growing the Junkyard Gypsy line will be near the top of the list! Here's hoping you all have a happy, healthy, blessed New Year.......check back soon, OK?

From the Hospital Room....

Well, it's nearly midnight, and I'm here in my Mom's hospital room. She had surgery 2 days ago, and they removed the tumor. It will take a week or two to get all the pathology reports back to see if it has spread, and to determine if chemo is on the docket. She's been given a mix of painkillers and sedatives that reacted badly, and has been asleep or talking incoherently most of the day.

This time with my Mom and the rest of the family is giving me plenty of time to think about the importance of family, and how easy it is to take important things (like your health) for granted. Thanksgiving has been difficult for my family the last two years - last year we lost my beloved grandmother on Thanksgiving Day, and this year Mom's in the hospital fighting cancer at Thanksgiving. But still, the fact that my family is pulling together around my Mom, and we're closer than usual is giving me a thankful spirit, and the belief that something good always comes out of the bad times.

Still wanting to get up pics of my workshop and my antique booths, but as you can see, there are more important things going on in my life at present. I hope you'll keep checking back.

Thinking Positively

Well, it hasn't been the best of days today.....found out this morning my mom has colon cancer, and will be undergoing surgery, probably Monday. It's been a shock to the system, and I haven't been very useful today, but at least it's making me think about the power of positive thinking, not to mention prayer. I talked with mom a long time on the phone this evening, and she sounds great.....she's battled breast cancer in the past, so she knows a little bit about what to expect. If you read this little blog, and are a praying person, please send up a little prayer for my Mom.

It's Raining!!!!

It's raining, halleluia it's raining! Yes, you can probably tell from that I'm in the drought-stricken area....it's getting scary folks. On the up side, it's made me much more conscious about how I use our natural resources.

Still working on designing my blog and figuring out how all this works, but it's not as scary as it seemed before I started - my technological klutzziness isn't stopping me anymore!

Heading to GA for Thanksgiving to visit my sister, Karma and the rest of my family! Can't wait!

Thanks for looking at my new blog - working on getting some pics up soon of my work space. Check back later!

Hey everybody, and welcome to my new blog! I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing, so be patient with me while I try to figure it out. I don't believe in the saying "you can't teach an old dog new tricks", so I'm determined not to let this lick me LOL.

In the meantime, be sure to visit my shop on etsy:

Thanks - check back soon - maybe I'll have something enlightening to say next time!
